With a million users within a month of launching and an estimated value of £30bn in its first six weeks you can’t underestimate the excitement around ChatGPT.
Every December as the year comes to a close I wonder ‘what will be the next big thing’ and it’s this. Open AI’s Chat GPT.
Love it or hate it, it’s here to stay and it’s only going to get bigger so we need to get on board.
It’s not going to take our jobs away, if anything it’s going to enable us to make more money because it means things are so much easier.
What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is an automated content creation tool (AI) which responds to questions or commands instantly.
An early adopter of ChatGPT, Matt Thomas, describes it best: ChatGPT is a computer programme that can help you make sentences and stories. You can talk to it and tell it what you want to say, and it will help you write it down.
How can I use ChatGPT as a Virtual Assistant?
There are lots of ways you can currently use ChatGPT as a Virtual Assistant. Either for your own business or your clients and I’ve listed some of the more popular ones below.
How much can I charge to create content using ChatGPT
Exactly the same as you do for everything else. So either your hourly rate or you can create packages, which is probably best for these kinds of services. If you’ve not yet introduced packages to your business take a look at how to do that using my guide. Packages enable you to earn a LOT more money.
Social Media Content
Social media is a powerful tool for all businesses to engage with their customers. Many businesses hire virtual assistants to manage their social media accounts because they either can’t, won’t or shouldn’t be spending time doing it themselves. You can so easily create and schedule social media posts generated by ChatGPT. You can then use platforms like Hootsuite, Buffer, or Later to manage the client’s social media accounts and schedule the posts. The client pays for the scheduling software, this shouldn’t be an expense of yours.
Blog Writing
Creating quality blogs is critical for businesses to drive traffic to their website, get noticed on Google, for search engine optimisation and to show their expertise. Using ChatGPT, you can help businesses with by creating blog posts. Have a play with ChatGPT and ask it to write you a blog on ‘why business owners shouldn’t do everything themselves’.
Guess how I wrote the basis of this blog? Yep, using ChatGPT.
Transcription Services
Many businesses require transcriptions of audio or video content for various reasons. They maybe have a podcast and want it to be accessible to those who are hard of hearing and thus they’ll want the podcast transcribed. You could use Rev to get the audio transcribed and then run it through ChatGPT to check for grammatical errors or to add a certain tone.
Hashtag Research
I don’t know about you but I hate researching hashtags for my Instagram and TikTok posts, so I often use ChatGPT to find me some. I know of a few VAs that offer this as a service using ChatGPT at a package price of ’50 hashtags to use on Instagram, for your niche: £25′.

Research
As Virtual Assistants we’re sometimes asked to undertake research for clients and I am sure some of that could be done using ChatGPT. Always check that ChatGPTs ‘database’ or whatever is in the background giving the answers is up to date (you can usually check this on their news page) otherwise your research might not cover the dates required.
PR Pitches
PR is a wonderful form of free marketing for business owners but lots of us scrabbling for the attention of busy journalists so, like anything, we’ve got to stand out and grab attention. I’ve used ChatGPT to write me a PR pitch and landed this. If you’ve got a client who would like some PR, offering this as a service could be very well received.

Hooks
You’ve probably heard about ‘hooks’. These are what you should start your social media posts with to get the reader to want to read more. It’s also known as clickbait, a headline. You’d have seen them before; ‘Do this one thing to get clients as a Virtual Assistant’ or ‘Here are six ways to make six figures as a Virtual Assistant’. Hooks are hard to write and I’ve read so much about hooks but I still struggle, I therefore use ChatGPT to help me when my mind goes blank. You could use it to offer say ‘100 hooks for your business niche for £75’.
They are just a few ideas. Keep and eye on ChatGPT and AI. It’s changing how we do business and I love it!
Please remember that if you and someone else asks ChatGPT the same question it will, currently, give the same response to you all. This means you must edit anything ChatGPT gives to you so that there isn’t identical content coming up on Google. Identical content can make Google think it’s spam, which could hinder someone’s SEO position. You can edit the results from ChatGPT by adapting it to yours or your client’s tone of voice, emphasising certain points, removing content, adding content, etc.
